The agency also warned of an elevated risk of avalanches in snow-prone regions, as well as the possibility of lightning and tornado-like phenomena associated with unstable winter convection. Along coastal areas, high waves are forecast, posing additional hazards to marine traffic and coastal infrastructure.

Snow-covered roads, icy surfaces and poor visibility may lead to road closures, delays and cancellations on rail services and domestic flights. In heavily affected regions, residents are being urged to avoid non-essential travel.

Urban areas may also experience indirect impacts, including delays to public services and increased strain on snow removal operations as persistent snowfall makes clearing efforts difficult.
