At 09:05 local time, a powerful earthquake measuring 7.1 in magnitude shook the western region of China’s Tibet Autonomous Region. The epicenter was in Dingri County, about 94 kilometers northeast of Lobuche and 163 kilometers west-southwest of the city of Shigatse, home to about 80,000 people.
