Damage Assessment Underway
The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) is currently assessing the full extent of the destruction. Preliminary estimates suggest financial losses could reach hundreds of millions of Indonesian Rupiah. Several homes have been rendered uninhabitable, and sacred temple structures suffered severe damage, further impacting the community.
Extreme Weather Patterns Persist
This incident is part of a series of extreme weather events that have plagued Tabanan Regency throughout January. On January 11, a massive banyan tree branch fell, damaging a community temple hall in Banjar Subamia. That event alone caused an estimated loss of USD 6,103 (IDR 100 million).
In total, storm-related damages in Tabanan this month have already exceeded USD 9,776 (IDR 160 million), according to BPBD. Local authorities warn that unpredictable weather conditions may continue in the coming weeks.
Response and Recovery Efforts
Emergency teams have been dispatched to Senganan Village to assist affected residents. Temporary shelters have been set up, and relief supplies are being distributed. Authorities urge residents to remain vigilant and adhere to weather warnings issued by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
The government is also working with local communities to strengthen disaster preparedness and mitigate the impact of future extreme weather events.
