DANA Storm

A DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) is a weather phenomenon where cold, dense air at high altitudes traps warm, moist air near the surface, creating atmospheric instability. This leads to intense, localized storms, often bringing heavy rainfall, strong winds, and sometimes thunderstorms. In Spain, DANAs are common during autumn and can cause severe flooding and other extreme weather events.

The Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) issued a severe weather advisory on November 12, 2024, warning of intense rainfall and the potential for flash floods across the Mediterranean and Andalusian coastal regions through November 15.
