The UAE experienced intense rainfall on Friday, prompting the National Centre of Meteorology to issue warnings of further precipitation in Fujairah and Al Ain. Reports from international sources indicate that Dubai faced heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, while Abu Dhabi and Fujairah experienced moderate rainfall.
Flight operations at Dubai International Airport were significantly affected, leading to redirected inbound flights and cancellations. The disruptions are attributed to a surface low-pressure system from the Red Sea, an extension of an upper air trough, a jet stream from the West, and a cold air mass with westward-flowing clouds associated with convective clouds over scattered areas, causing rainfall.
The rainfall has contributed to a drop in temperatures, resulting in a cooler climate, as highlighted by the Meteorological Department.
In response to the challenging weather conditions, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority suspended several bus lines, and Dubai Police issued cautionary advice for Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road due to flooding. In Sharjah, City Municipality resources were deployed to clear flooded areas.
